Design Choice: Reflecting Afghanistan’s History

This hoodie showcases a design directly inspired by the "Flag of Afghanistan (WFB)" — the version of the Afghan flag as depicted in the CIA World Factbook. This means the design you see reflects the flag used during a specific period of Afghanistan's history, as rendered and standardized by the CIA for informational purposes.

Design 1: 2004–2021 (Islamic Republic of Afghanistan)

The first design option represents the flag of Afghanistan from approximately 2004 to 2021. It features a vertical tricolor layout. The flag is divided into three equal vertical bands: black, red, and green. Centered on the tricolor is the white national emblem. This emblem is comprised of a mosque with its mihrab and minbar, flanked by two flags. The mosque is surrounded by wheat sheaves, topped with the Shahada (Islamic creed) and Takbir (Allah is Great). Below the emblem, the word “Afghanistan” in Arabic script is displayed, along with the date 1298 (Islamic calendar), corresponding to 1919 CE – the year of Afghanistan's independence from Britain.

The design utilizes simplified vector outlines and reduced detail in the Arabic calligraphy, as is characteristic of the WFB rendering. Color shades are often rendered slightly brighter, and the aspect ratio is approximately 2:3.

Design 2: Post-2021 (Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan – Taliban Rule)

The second, and potentially the primary, design represents the flag as used by the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (Taliban) from 2022 to the present. The central visual element is a plain white field. In the center of this field is the black Arabic Shahada inscription. This inscription proclaims, "لَا إِلٰهَ إِلَّا ٱللَّٰهُ مُحَمَّدٌ رَسُولُ ٱللَّٰهِ" ("There is no god but Allah, and Muhammad is the messenger of Allah."). This design emphasizes the importance of Islamic faith and divine sovereignty within the nation.
