Aggius-Stemma (Italy) Hoodie: Design Overview
This hoodie features the official coat of arms, or stemma, of Aggius, a municipality nestled in the Gallura region of northeastern Sardinia, Italy. The artwork is a faithful representation of the heraldic design officially granted on June 13, 2002.
Design Elements and Symbolism
The design is divided horizontally, reflecting the heraldic practice of "per fess." The top portion is dominated by a field of gold (or), a color traditionally representing generosity and the region's rich resources. Within this gold field are three red lozenges (gules), each framed by a gold border. These lozenges, arranged in a triangular pattern, are symbolic of the noble and ancient heritage of Aggius.
The lower section presents a field of blue (azure), the color of loyalty and truth. Dominating this field is a stylized representation of the green mountain, Monte della Croce (also known as Monte del Diavolo), a prominent landmark in the Aggius area. The mountain is depicted as rising from the base and sides of the design, a visual tribute to the natural landscape of the region. Crowning the peak of the mountain is a small black cross, further emphasizing the significance of Monte della Croce.
The combination of these elements—the gold and red lozenges signifying heritage, the blue background representing loyalty, the green mountain reflecting the area's natural beauty, and the black cross—all work together to tell the story of Aggius's history and character.
