Coat of Arms of the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará Hoodie - Design Description

This hoodie showcases the intricately designed Coat of Arms of the Archdiocese of Belém do Pará, a symbol rich in religious and historical significance.

Shield Design

The central element is the shield, divided vertically into two halves. The upper half is a vibrant blue, symbolizing the spiritual and transcendent realm. The lower half is a deep red, representing the temporal world.

Over the red half, a prominent gold fleur-de-lis takes center stage. Its central petal is uniquely extended upwards, morphing into a gold cross, emphasizing the Christological significance.

Crossing over the blue half, the vertical stem of the cross formed by the fleur-de-lis overlaps a six-pointed gold star, complete with a comet-like tail, which heralds the birth of Christ.

At the apex of the shield, in the "chief" position, a gold stylized dove, representing the Holy Spirit, is proudly displayed.

Flanking the shield's vertical axis are two heraldic roses in silver, adding a touch of elegance and further symbolism.

Below the fleur-de-lis on the red half is a silver manger or cradle, signifying the humble birth of Jesus in Bethlehem (Belém).

Additional Embellishments

Above the shield, the design features a gold mitre, the bishop's hat, lined with red, and adorned with two gold/red tassels (fitões).

Symbolism

The blue field represents the spiritual realm, while the red field symbolizes the temporal world. The fleur-de-lis, a symbol of the Virgin Mary, particularly references her Immaculate Conception and her role as the Mother of Christ. The cross formed by the fleur-de-lis further emphasizes Christ's significance. The comet-star announces the birth of Christ, and the Holy Spirit (dove) above the cross symbolizes the Spirit's role in the Incarnation and the life of the Church. The roses and the cradle recall the birth of Jesus in Bethlehem and the grace of salvation.
