This hoodie showcases the official Coat of Arms (COA) of Landkreis Emsland, a district in Lower Saxony, Germany. The design is a direct representation of the district's heraldic emblem, divided into three horizontal sections, each with distinct visual elements and symbolic meaning.
Design Breakdown
The top third of the design features a vibrant red background. Set against this bold backdrop is a silver dolmen, a prehistoric megalithic burial structure. This element symbolizes the historical heritage and numerous ancient burial mounds found within the former district of Aschendorf-Hümmling, now part of Emsland.
The central portion of the design presents a golden background, adorned with three horizontally arranged red medlar blossoms. These blossoms represent the former district of Meppen and, by extension, the three merged districts that formed modern-day Emsland. The medlar blossoms also allude to the heraldic traditions of local nobility, such as the Dukes of Arenberg, signifying a historical connection to the area.
