Universidad Católica de Colombia Coat of Arms T-Shirt
This t-shirt proudly displays the official coat of arms, or "escudo," of the Universidad Católica de Colombia. The design is a powerful statement of faith, knowledge, and institutional values.
Design Elements and Symbolism
The central element is a shield, divided into three horizontal stripes. At the top, a stripe of blue represents the Immaculate Conception of the Virgin Mary, and signifies timelessness and a vision for the future. The middle stripe is white, symbolizing purity and honesty, also linked to the Virgin Mary. The bottom stripe is yellow, mirroring the flag of the Holy See, and represents spiritual richness and loyalty to the Papacy.
Overlaid upon these stripes is a prominent Cross of Lorraine, a symbol of triumph and freedom. The two horizontal bars of the cross, and especially the shorter top bar, recognize the royalty of Jesus Christ.
Completing the design is the motto, emblazoned across the top of the shield. It reads "Sapientia Aedificavit Sibi Domum," a Latin phrase translating to "Wisdom hath built herself a house," from Proverbs 9:1. This motto highlights the university's commitment to knowledge and learning as the foundation of its mission.
