University of Strathclyde Arms Hoodie
Emblazoned on this hoodie is the distinguished Coat of Arms of the University of Strathclyde, a powerful symbol of heritage and learning.
The Shield
The shield itself is divided vertically, with a vibrant red field on the wearer's right and a deep blue field on the left. A prominent white diagonal cross, known as a saltire, spans the shield, creating a striking central element.
At the top of the shield, a golden antique crown rests, possibly symbolizing royal patronage or the University's historical significance.
In the flanks and base of the shield, you'll find three stylized Ermine cinquefoils. The five-petaled flowers are rendered in the fur tincture Ermine, adding an element of prestige.
The Chief
Across the top of the shield, a golden band known as the chief holds further details. A stylized black "wave-packet" is centrally positioned, likely representing the River Clyde, which is central to the University’s location. On either side of the wave-packet, two open books, rendered in their natural colors, are displayed. The fore-edges and bindings of the books are in the same red as the right-hand side of the shield.
Symbolism
The open books are a clear representation of learning and scholarship. The wave-packet likely symbolizes the River Clyde and Strathclyde's geographical ties. The crown and cinquefoils potentially speak to historical elements and affiliations of the University.
