Wappen Lautertal Odenwald (Germany) Hoodie - Design
This hoodie features the official coat of arms of Lautertal (Odenwald), a municipality in the Bergstraße district of Hesse, Germany. The design, created by heraldist Heinz Ritt, is a striking representation of the region's history and geography.
Shield Design
The central element is the shield, divided horizontally into two primary sections. The upper portion is colored red (gules) and displays two six-pointed silver (argent) stars. The lower section features a prominent gold (or) saltire, a diagonal cross, set against a black (sable) background.
The base of the shield showcases a silver (argent) wavy band, representing the Lauter River. This band is further embellished with four wavy lines in blue (azure), emphasizing the flowing water.
Symbolism in Detail
The design is rich with symbolism. The two silver stars, positioned in the upper red field, are derived from the arms of the Princes of Erbach-Schönberg, a nod to the region's historical ties and influence. The prominent gold saltire, the diagonal cross, pays homage to St. Andrew, the patron saint of the historic church in Reichenbach.
Finally, the wavy band and the four blue wavy lines together represent the Lauter River, after which the municipality is named, thereby acting as a visual identifier of the geographical area.
Flag Elements
The coat of arms is incorporated directly from the design of Lautertal's official flag which has been used since 1975.
