The Peacock's Significance

Historically, the peacock served as a royal emblem of the Konbaung dynasty, Myanmar's last monarchy, appearing on royal attire and the prestigious Peacock Throne. Its presence signifies a connection to a rich past of regal authority and cultural pride.
During the British colonial era, the peacock continued to represent a spirit of national identity, appearing on the flag of the governor and the naval ensign. Anti-colonial activists even utilized the peacock on a white flag as a symbol of resistance against British rule.
