Visual Elements & Composition

The tree fills the sheet on its own. There is no horizon, no ground, and no sky to frame it, so the eye moves only along the trunk and out through the forked limbs. The palette is restrained: soft grey graphite for the wider structure, deeper black crayon for the shadowed hollows and the darkest joins. Against the cream paper, the branching reads as a network of lines, with the tapering ends of the smallest twigs thinning almost to nothing.
