Escudo de Moniquirá Hoodie: A Symbol of Colombian Heritage
Embrace the rich history and vibrant identity of Moniquirá, Colombia, with this hoodie featuring the official Escudo de Moniquirá (Coat of Arms). The design is a powerful representation of the municipality's heritage and values, rendered in a striking heraldic style.
A Shield of Stories
At the heart of the design lies the shield, a canvas divided into distinct quarters, each telling a unique story. The upper-left quarter, in a bold red, features a black diagonal band adorned with three gold stars. This represents the blood shed for freedom and honors Antonio Ricaurte, a local hero. Across from it, in the upper-right, a blue field portrays a serene landscape of water waves, a palm tree, mountains, and a rising sun, symbolizing Moniquirá's name origin ("city of the bath") and its connection to nature.
The lower-left quarter, colored green, showcases sugarcane and trapiche (sugar-mill) wheels in gold, reflecting the municipality's strong agricultural roots and focus on sugarcane production. In the lower-right, a blue field hosts a golden obelisk, a monument to unity and Bolivarian ideals, created by a local artist.
At the bottom, a small triangular shield ("escudete") depicts a copper pan ("paila de cobre") on a red background. This symbolizes Moniquirá's mineral wealth and its identity as the "sweet city," famous for its delicious sweets.
A Border of Significance
The shield is encircled by a border of alternating gold and silver pieces, representing the richness and integrity of the Provincia de Ricaurte, to which Moniquirá belongs.
Honor and Strength
Topping the shield is a helmet of a great warrior, which evokes heroism and glory, and a swallow-tailed banner (pendón cola de Milano) charged with a sun, representing hope and brightness. On each side of the shield stand two rampart (rearing) lions, symbolizing the strength and valor of Moniquirá’s people. They stand over a half-garland of coffee branches, highlighting the municipality's importance as a coffee producer.
Wear the Escudo de Moniquirá with pride – a symbol of a community’s legacy, aspirations, and deep connection to its land.
