This is a graphite pencil study of a standing lamp, with a round globe shade balanced on a carved pineapple stem and a stepped pedestal beneath it.

Visual Elements & Composition

The drawing is rendered in pencil grey on a parchment ground, with pale grey shading doing most of the work. The spherical globe sits at the top and is softened by a gradation on its lower right, which gives it weight. Beneath it, the pineapple stem is built from diagonal rows of diamond-shaped scales, crowned with pointed leaves.
